I can't wait! 3 weeks from today I'll be at the Strip, layin' out some smoke and rubber! I'm already driving my wife nuts about it. She has absolutely ZERO interest in cars or racing, kinda sucks actually as I'd like to take her to the Drag Strip for the weekend this summer. That is a romantic weekend getaway, right guys??? Like, what can be more romantic then waking up to the thunderous sounds of open headers at the crack of dawn? Or the wonderful aroma of burning rubber as you suck down a half warm cup of joe fresh from last nights pot at the concession stand?
Am I not understanding something here?
Have a great day folks!

I completly understand!
Well Pete, my wife had absolutely ZERO interest in cars or racing until about 4 months ago. We have been married for over 9 years. I had built a '68 Step side (forgot about that one…got to go add it to the list) and it was a pain…I guess I must have blocked it out… …because it was the end of my car building for the next 8 and half years , since the whole experience of that truck left a bad impression on her. When we met I had still had my ’68 GTO (that I sold when my oldest son was born).
You’re right…what an absolutely perfect romantic weekend getaway! Know that she has about 5% interest in cars or racing and 10% on a good day, I just might have to try a weekend trip.

SNIFF, SNIFF , that was beautiful.
Actually I work part time at the drag strip here, and two weeks ago I went to work an overnight at the front gate and when I got there a slight breeze was blowing right towards the gate. It had all my favorite smells together, BBQ+Tire Smoke+Racing Fuel= Heaven

I agree Kris!!!
It just feels right when you have that fine black power from burnout on your face and fuel burning your eyes and nose...just a little at first... _________________ Hooper

Kris and I just had our romantic weekend a couple of weekends ago at the Pontiac Southern Nationals here in Tulsa. I happen to believe it IS romantic, and loved every minute of it. NOTHING turns me on more than cars........sorry Kris. _________________ If it ain't broke, keep messing with it and it will be soon enough.....

Well the time is finally here! Tonight I'll get my mobile condo (U-Haul 16ft van) loaded and make sure the Bird will go on the trailer with the slicks on it. 5am tomorrow I'm up and gone to the track for the weekend. My son will be joining me Saturday night after he's done work. He;s going to race in the street class with my 04 Canyon 4X4.
Time trials and a Gamblers race are held Saturday with 1 or 2 more time trial passes Sunday, then qualifying and eliminations in the afternoon. I'm hoping to get 12-15 passes in this weekend but that'll depend on the number of cars there.
I'll have lots of pics and video to post next week!
Have a great weekend all!

I remember when the strip was just an hour away and gas was under a buck a gallon. I used to go as often as I could get away. The national events were the best of course, Got pit passes every time. We would stand right behind the top fuelers when they test fired and see who could stand there the longest. Our eyes would burn so bad...it was the best!
I've tried to describe that to Aimee, but she just doesn't get it.

We installed the Barry Grant racing carb on my Bird last night. All I can say is I wish my Holley responded like this thing does. It's not hard to tell that this thing is built to race! I just touch, and I mean touch, the throttle and the car jumps! I'm really hoping this helps solve some of my problems on the strip.
On another note, I should be bringing my Monza drag car home tonight. _________________ ___________________________________
