Hello fellow Firebird and Trans-Ams friends!
I just wanted to share a few quick things before the release of the SCC Monthly Newsletter.
Our 1977 Trans-Am Project
It is a beautiful weekend here! I just got back in from sanding on Mason’s car. I finally picked up a D/A and some other sanding tools. Last week I removed most of the trim. All of the rear light panels are off as well. The rear bumper and doors are the last things to come off. They will be off once they are sanded and primed.
Next, the entire car will be sanded inside and out, primed, reassembled to match everything up, and then disassembled again, as well as, removed off the frame. The frame will then be blasted and coated and the rest of the car will get some new rear quarters and a fresh coat of paint inside and out as we clean the interior pieces. We are trying to decide between the original Buccaneer Red or Starlight Black with gold trim.
Finally, a fresh 400 ci engine and a turbo 400 tranny will rest in its new home.
Now granted you guys know how long all of this takes, so be please be patient for pics and updates and wish us luck. There is a ton of blood, sweat, and tears in this project! What Father wouldn’t want to do this for his son? My son is by my side helping along the way. It is a very special project for us!
Keep us posted on the progress of your projects! We all love pics! Good luck to everyone with a project underway! If we can help you with that special part please let us know. We have found a ton of great sources. Be sure to look for the pics we are about to post from our last “chase”.
To follow the entire story from the first pic to the most current check out our post in the Project section. We will update that post as we go. There is an assembled pic of our car with a timeline of events.
SCC Worldwide
SCC has grown past what I ever imagined. We have a network of friends from Australia to Nova Scotia. SCC has sold merchandise as far off as Nigeria and Nova Scotia. The main thing for me is to see the sharing of thought, ideas, and people helping each other. There is a real kinship here. That is my favorite thing about SCC.
(PM) me your favorite thing about SCC to “hardtop77”.
Upcoming Posts
Some of our members have been to some great events in the past few weeks, so look forward to some great post. They have been to everything from shows at Race Tracks to Races to the Year One Experience. All of them spread the word about The SCC Garage. I am happy that they enjoy the forum that much!
We are working out the bugs to SCC Live. Be sure to download Yahoo Messenger to be able to tune in to the live chat coming soon!
We are still gathering information for the Generations section and I am happy to report several people have emailed us to decode their VIN and COWL tags. This is a FREE service that we offer. Each year VIN and COWL tag information will be posted within the forum in the upcoming weeks.
We are getting close to the 75th member mark and that is exciting since the forum has just will celebrate its 3rd month anniversary in 2 days. We are in the process of building a special SCC Forum Video dedicated to the members. Be sure to get your pics and videos in! Please (PM) me or rkellerjr with any questions.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! _________________ Hooper
